Low-Profile Gastrostomy Button

In an accelerated aging study for balloon life, 20 samples of the Aquarius Buttons and 20 samples of a market leader’s buttons were immersed in solution of simulated gastric content with a pH 1.2 +/- 0.1, and a Test Temperature 37.8 +/-3°C. The duration of the test was 90 days to simulate the average device change policy for these devices in patients in the United States.

Normally the volume of the stomach fluid is 20 to 100 mL and the pH is acidic (1.5 to 3.5). (This information is from the U.S. National Library of Medicine)

In this environment 75% of the Aquarius Buttons survived 90 days. None of the market leader’s devices lasted beyond 80 days.

Independent tests clearly show the Aquarius Gastostomy Button has a longer balloon lifespan in Simulated Gastric Fluids compared to the market leader’s balloons.
